ARC Review: The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri // A Rich, Well-Crafted Start to a New Series

A powerful beginning to a new fantasy series, The Jasmine Throne showcases the complexity of empire and the monstrosity and power of women within it.

This adult fantasy book featuring morally grey sapphics set in an Indian-inspired world was one of my most anticipated 2021 releases; I fully expected to rate it five stars! And while a few aspects (sadly) disappointed me, I was still able to enjoy the book as a whole.

Mini Reviews: The Singing Hills Cycle by Nghi Vo // Stunning Novellas that Contain Stories Within Stories

Novellas are so much fun to read.

As much as I love reading longer books so I can really connect with the story and characters, sometimes I just want to pick up something quick that I can finish in a short amount of time yet still be able to enjoy! There’s just something so special about losing yourself in a magical story for a hundred pages, which is why I love novellas.

So today, I’m here to review The Empress of Salt and Fortune and When The Tiger Came Down the Mountain: two novellas that I recently read and enjoyed!

Blog Tour Excerpt: American Betiya by Anuradha D. Rajurkar

Welcome to my stop on the American Betiya Tour!

Although I personally didn’t enjoy this book as much as I wanted to, it was mostly a case of “right book, wrong time,” as most of my problems with it were personal rather than big issues with the story. I’m sure you would enjoy it if you’re looking for a YA Contemporary filled with powerful themes of finding yourself!

January Wrap-Up // I Went Back to School But Read 14 Books!

Happy February, friends!

Normally when a month ends, I feel like it went by both too fast and too slow at the same time, but January—at least to me—lasted so long. Still, it feels so strange saying that we’re one-twelfth of the way through 2021!!

This month wasn’t the best start of the year, but it also wasn’t terrible. As you can tell from the title, I was able to read 14 books and really enjoyed almost all of them! I also had Spotify on almost all the time and listened to a ton of great music.

There’s not much else to say because my month was pretty boring, so let’s just get on with the wrap-up!

Like This Song? Read That Book! // Part 2, Ft. Book Playlists and (Unsurprisingly) a Lot of Taylor Swift

I’m back to gush about my books and songs again!

I had so much fun writing my first Like This Song? Read That Book! post last year where I paired eight books I love with eight songs I love, and since I’ve discovered so many new pairs I always associate with each other, I decided to write a part two.

So today, I’m here another time to recommend you books based on songs I love! My music taste has really changed from the first time I wrote this post (because now I basically only listen to Taylor Swift, Lorde and kpop haha), but I hope you’re able to enjoy this nonetheless!!

This novel reminded me why I love middle grade so much!!

I hadn’t read a middle grade novel in a while before picking up Pie In The Sky, but I’m so glad I decided to choose it as my first middle grade read of the year, because it was so amazing. I read it in just a few sittings, and it managed to make me laugh and tear up at the same time.

So today, I’m here to review and hopefully convince you all to pick up this highly underrated gem of a middle grade novel!
